Peer Review Process

The Journal of Marriage and Family Studies (JMFS) uses a double-blind peer review process to ensure fair, objective, and high-quality evaluation of all submitted manuscripts.

  1. Initial Screening:

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes a primary assessment by publishing experts within one week. This stage ensures that the manuscript meets the journal’s scope, formatting, and guidelines requirements. Authors are encouraged to follow the submission guidelines carefully to expedite this process. If the manuscript passes this stage, it is forwarded to the editor-in-chief for further evaluation.

  1. Scientific Committee Review:

The journal secretary and scientific committee review the manuscript for content relevance and alignment with the journal’s thematic areas.

  1. Peer Review:

The manuscript is then sent to two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject area. The reviewers remain anonymous to the authors. Based on their feedback, the following decisions may be made:

    • Rejection: If both reviewers reject the manuscript, it will not be published.
    • Major or Minor Revision: If both reviewers suggest revisions, the manuscript is returned to the authors for modification.
    • Mixed Opinions: If one reviewer suggests revision and the other rejects, the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer to make a final recommendation.

4. Author Revision and Comparative Review:
After authors submit their revised manuscript, it may be sent to a reviewer (or a new reviewer) for comparative assessment to ensure that requested modifications have been addressed adequately.

5. Final Decision and Publication:
The editor-in-chief reviews all reviewer comments and author revisions to make the final publication decision. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, proofreading, and layout preparation before publication. Authors are notified promptly at each stage of the process.

JMFS is committed to rigorous, transparent, and timely peer review to maintain the highest standards of scholarly publishing while supporting authors in improving the quality and impact of their work.
